We are headed down the inside of the outer banks of NC. Although the water is wide, the depths are very shallow, so we need to pay attention and stay inside a relatively narrow marked waterway. Passing a lot of LARGE house on small lots with docks to die for. Wind is behind us so it’s a smooth ride. We have opted to travel at about 8.5 knots, which is a compromise between speed and fuel consumption. It’s about 1.5 MPG ! AGGH…
But we are traveling in comfort, boat is running great. Now if we can manage to stay in the ditch, we will be fine.
Joe the previous owner called last night, to check up after reading the blog. Really appreciated the call! Helped us figure out some of the boat systems. The support network is great. Francisco the other owner set up this blog and acts as our tech support along w Karen. We are as high tech as U can get for 2 cavemen.
Stats so far are 230 miles covered from Norfolk, 139 gallons of fuel consumed, still working on our first case of beer, which only comes out once we are safely docked.
Tonight we plan to anchor next to Camp Lejeune. (mile 243). Nobody leaves the boat!
Only on the first case of beer? OK, how much tequila? Sounds like a great trip.
